What's It Like Living in Dublin, Ohio? A Guide to One of Columbus's Signature Suburbs

by Norby Fischer

Dublin, on the northwest side of the Columbus metro, has spent decades building a reputation — and unlike some reputations, this one's earned. Here's the honest local picture.

Two downtowns, really. Historic Dublin offers stone buildings, Irish heritage, and independent restaurants along the Scioto River. Directly across the river — connected by a striking pedestrian bridge — is Bridge Park, one of Central Ohio's most ambitious modern developments: condos and apartments above restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Between the two, Dublin has genuine walkable energy that most suburbs can't match.

Housing: Dublin skews toward the upper tiers of the Columbus market. Expect established executive neighborhoods with mature landscaping, golf course communities (Muirfield Village, home of the Memorial Tournament, is the famous one), and luxury condos in and around Bridge Park. Entry points exist, but Dublin is generally a move-up and luxury market.

Employment and amenities: Dublin hosts major corporate employers, an extensive city park and trail system along the Scioto, and one of the best-known community events in the region — the Dublin Irish Festival, which draws visitors from all over the country every August.

Getting around: US-33 and I-270 access make Dublin one of the better-connected suburbs for commutes across the northwest metro.

Trade-offs to know: You pay for the polish. Price per square foot runs higher than many neighboring communities, and competition for well-priced homes is consistent.

Whether Dublin fits depends on your budget and what you're comparing it to — and that comparison is exactly the conversation I love having with buyers.
